Cheerfully lifting from the likes of The Terminator, Alien and Die Hard, homegrown director Stephen Norrington fashions a distinctly un-British but hugely entertaining techno thriller. Set in the near future, the story pits hi-tech weapons firm executive Ely Pouget and a gang of terrorists against barmy scientist Brad Dourif and his bone-crunching killing machine in a deserted office building. There's little in the way of character development, but former effects man Norrington never lets the pace slacken for a minute and designs some ingenious action sequences.
I saw this years ago and it was a blast. Tech-noir and whacky characters. Great stuff.
Worth a watch, like previous reviewer i watched in 95 and enjoyed it, of course as 'B' movies have acquired better CGI, films like this are remembered fondly but don't quite live up to expectations when viewed again....this almost makes it though, homicidal robot X Jason + weird over the top characters - ripping fast story with the voice of chucky, Mr Dourif making an appearance = watchable over the top film, yeh go for it....Friday night could be worse
