A new Quentin Tarantino movie is always an occasion, though Death Proof is the first serious setback in his fitful career. As you probably know, this was originally conceived as a 60-minute segment in Grindhouse, a tribute to the exploitation movies that played in double bills at drive-ins and sleazy inner-city fleapits in the early 1970s. The package also included a scifi-horror-shoot-em-up, Planet Terror, written and directed by Tarantino's Dusk Till Dawn buddy Robert Rodriguez, and parody... Read more
Quentin Tarantino fans might want to head to Empire Online's website and check out a new trailer for Death Proof, the Pulp Fiction director's latest film. Fans may know that Death Proof was released in the US as part of a double bill called Grindhouse, together with Planet Terror, which was directed by Robert Rodriguez. However, he was not so fond of Death Proof, which formed half of the Grindhouse double-bill from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. Two of the critics loved Control, the biopic of deceased Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis. It Read more
A movie website has listed some of the top action sequences cinema-goers have been entertained by this year. IFC News chose David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises as containing one of the most intense and blood-splattered fight scenes, where Viggo Mortensen is cornered by two assassins in a bathhouse. Die Hard 4.0's sequence involving Bruce Willis as John McClane fighting a jet with his own car was noted for its overblown but hugely enjoyable action scenes, while The Bourne Ultimatum's rooftop...
