Cult Classic
By a customer from cardiff , 08 Jul 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
This film is a cult classic, Set in the futre year of 2000 and worth watching for the comedy value alone. The scene where the geriatrics are left outside the local hospital to be run over is just hillarious. The lead character dresses up like the Gimp from Pulp Fiction and any acts of sabotage against the race gets blamed on 'the French & their stinky European cousins'.
They really don't make them like they used to.
It also has Sylvester Stallone starring in it before he became famous, and directly influenced the computer game Carmagedden.- Was this review helpful to you?

Betamax Special
By a customer , 27 Oct 2011If you were born in the '60s this film is something of a classic. It's a Dad's favourite and I hope this brings back memories
- Sneaking into AA rated films on Saturday afternoons
- A big brother or friend who gets you into 18 rated films
- Anyone who can pronounce David Carradine's character in 'Kung Fu'
Having watched this film again I really don't get it. I remember sneaking into cinemas to see it when it first appeared but to be honest it hasn't aged well
A Fun.mad and very dated 70's Sci-Fi. Some of us saw this when it was new and didn't like it much then. We hired this on Betamax - that should say enough- Was this review helpful to you?

It's Pretty Nostalgic...
By a customer , 26 Aug 2011I had a row with the parents about going to see this when it was released, when I was a kid. It's the first time I've seen it after all these years, and it's pretty nostalgic. I don't know if I would really have enjoyed it then, but I think it spawned the strip 'Death Game 2000' in the later banned 'Action' comic, which I did enjoy. It's actually very good, quite funny, startlingly if comparitively mildly violent in many places, and probably worth watching - if you enjoy(ed) 70's American TV (The Bionic Man etc) and movies (Burt Reynolds etc).- Was this review helpful to you?

Original versus reimaged cack
By Metaliant (50 reviews) from Walsall , 08 Jul 2011I have seen this film twice now and I find it extremely daft, funny, horrifying and far superior than the so called remake or reimaged film which is cack.- Was this review helpful to you?

More delightfully sick humor from Bartel (EATING RAOUL). In a boorish future, the government sponsors a popular, but bloody, cross-country race in which points are scored by mowing down pedestrians--with bonus points for the elderly! Five teams, each comprised of a male and female, compete using cars equipped with deadly weapons. Frankenstein, the mysterious returning champion, has become America's hero, but this time he has a passenger from the underground resistance. A legendary cult film.- Was this review helpful to you?
