[Highly rated reviewer]This is the cinematic equivalent of staring at a fruit machine for two hours.
It is also almost impossible to critique. It follows a pretty rank formula; a scene or two of hackneyed, pungent gorgonzola takes place off the track, followed by a sequence of headache-inducing eye-screwery taking place on it. And Repeat. Repeat. REPEAT.
Those race sequences really do represent a new low for contemporary Hollywood moviemaking. When shots aren't cut into spastic, nonsensical visual slaps that last less than a second, the camera is quaking violently and zooming in and out furiously, as if being controlled by a well-caffeinated mute, trying desperately to let the director on the other end of the monitor know that his testicles have just caught fire.
At one point, following what appears to have been a gigantic car accident, Joan Allen (Joan Allen!) turns to a colleague and bellows, 'What the hell just happened!?'
You tell me, luv.

You won't be bored to deathBy Routemaster (95 reviews) from Cambridge , 17 Mar 2012Where do you start to review this film? Another Jason Staham action packed movie which like so many others are good to watch but with a story line that is so unbelievable!
Ames (Statham) is framed for a murder he didn't commit (aren't they all) and ends up in a prison with a warden called Hennessey (Joan Allen - head of CIA Jason Bourne Fame) who is making money from a blood thirsty sport involving racing supped up cars and killing each other. The prize - win five races and you're let free.
As you would expect a bit of double crossing by the warden, but luckily the drivers have access to all sorts of tools and materials which allows an inventive jail break (you'll have to watch to see it - no spoilers here) - with a happy ever after ending of course. It's Statham.
Good action packed car fuelled thrill rideBy KelSmell (185 reviews) from Telford , 24 Jan 2012I enjoyed this film. It was really good. I have seen a few films with Jason Statham in now and I must admit, I have started to enjoy films with him in. There is one film, that I will not watch him in though. Its just a shame that the disc that we had was damaged. Scratched, but it was making it skip scenes even though we cleaned the disc. I would recommend this film, as one to watch though.
Ouch that was my FACE!By tophatmatt (3 reviews) from Reading , 11 Dec 2011Taking it's influence from a 1980's B Movie that I loved as a kid I thought the remake would suck.
I was very wrong. Grindhouse with cars. Mindless with most of the characters having a serious personality issues and an attitude problem that would chew your face off.
If you like Escape From New York, Mad Max, or want a mindless orgy of violence to fill that gapping hole that would otherwise result in you killing your co workers watch this movie.
Death RaceBy Ricia (156 reviews) , 04 Dec 2011What a great film with lots of action, violent and underhand tricks just what you would be expecting from a prison based story plot but with the added twist of an illegal?? fast speed race held in the prison sanctioned by a corrupt warden. A great watch plus Jason Statham is perfectly cast with a ruthless streak to see justice!

Stratham does it again with this fast moving great film, kicking butt along the way.
