if you like deep purple you must rent or buy this dvd. its the one we've all been waiting for. the classic mk2 line up perfoming all their classics. yes i know some of its black and white but its still fantastic. the only weird thing is the audio commentary its like a mad documentary by someone who's never been out of the house(fasinating thou and very informative). i own this and you should to.

  • Dissappointed

Deep Purple were one of the bands that infuenced me to pick up the guitar in the seventies and whilst this is a true representation of the bands performances I have to say I found that the whole thing didn't live up to my expectations. There were bits of the sets that stood out but overall it just shows how one remembers things and makes a pretty picture in the mind to what actually occured! Very dissappointed with the whole thing, not saying it was rubbish, just not as good as I used to think they were in days gone by. I will still rent other Deep Purple DVD's and hope to see an improvement in later concerts.

....Even down to the B/W film of the Danish concert. Nostalgia at its best!

  • The Best DP Line Up In Concert!!!

    Rated - 5.0 stars
By MusicFan from West Yorkshire , 11 Aug 2005
I must admit, having watched a few other DP DVD's, I was ready to be disappointed with this one. 1972 Concert - Black and white? Apologies for nature of archive footage...and then they kicked into Highway Star!

Ritchie Blackmore on top form and...wait for it..smiling!!! The band were tight and playing off each other brilliantly, Ritchie pulled off all the stage moves I remember from watching Rainbow and I was left thinking, I wish I had been there!

The footage from 1973 was a bit low key in comparison, as IG had already resigned from the band, and the sneak preview of DP MkIII was a taste of things to come...but nothing could top that MKII line up in my opinion.
