I originally added this to my list on the assumption is was a fictious drama (found the film prior to be released and thought it would be a film like 'Wind').
When I got it I was suprised to see it was in fact a true story and was actually a documentary.
What makes this such a good documentary is that it is form the producers of touching the void and very much of the same genre.
The documentary is based mainly on the interviews of those involved incluing KnoX Smith and follows the story of an unknown Donald Crowshurts and his attempt to solo circumnavigate around the world in 1968.
The film covers the preparation but mostly the journey itself made formt he logs of the journey, cine film and audio tape oby Crowhurst himself.
This makes for a very moving documentary about a desperate man in isolation.
loved every minute of this - Knox Smith and the son of Crowhurst giving nice interviews, but some incredible characters include the french sailor andthe nasty press guy.
do also watch the sailors's stories extra - worht a watch.
if you liked this try touching the void and alive (andes plan crash doc accompanying the film)
You really couldn't have made this story up. Donald Crowhurst's attempt to be the first person to sail single handed around the world defies belief.
