The cast of DEFYING GRAVITY clearly embraced the project with gusto but you'll get a spliter from this DVD thanks to the consistently wooden performances of all involved (and at this rate David DeCoteau will become the next David Lean). The subject matter is commendable, and this might have been groundbreaking in the 80's before movies like MAKING LOVE and PARTING GLANCES made an impact. I don't doubt that this film will have relevance in mainstream America, even today, but in the UK our Soap Operas are more challenging! If BROKEN HEARTS CLUB represents America's cultural landscape of today, this movie is a decade prior.

It's sweet in a nostalgic kind of way, just very low budget. Perhaps everyone involved was working on a movie for the first time? HEAD ON broke fresh ground and had something new to say, and you may want to try CRIMINAL LOVERS for something quite different...
