Outstanding dvdBy WestCountry (68 reviews) from Yeovil , 13 Jan 2010
[Highly rated reviewer]It must be brilliant - I watched it 3 times and I will now buy my own copy!! Darcey Bussell is in tremendous and commanding form. The orchestra gives a great performance and the lighting and costumes contribute to the success of the performance. One of the best ballet dvds that I have seen.

Staged magicBy a customer , 02 Feb 2013An excellent performance by Darcey at a peak...even my mates, who don't really enjoy ballet thought the dancing brilliant and the camera work just about right. I'm not sure about the audience who weere obtrusive at least once. That aside this made for a thoroughly enjoyable evning in.
The Perfect BallerinaBy Balletfan (3 reviews) , 15 Aug 2012Knew she was good - but not this good. The Pizzicatti is mind blowing!. A true Prima Ballerina. Good support from other Principals , corp de ballet and orchestra. Well filmed. All in all a great production. I watched it 3 times and have now bought my own copy.
Vibrant and delightfulBy Seedyvee (207 reviews) from Grantham , 25 Sep 2011
[Highly rated reviewer]The plot may be one-dimensional and the final act a mere medley of dances with a brief dramatic interruption but the music is ever warm, seductive and lyrical. The ROH present this with a soft-edged vibrant colour scheme, redolent of those classical paintings of Poussin and very effective choreography. I'm still finding too much pantomimic gesture in ballet for me to take it too seriously but this one is delightful to watch though at times the amplification of the music can err on the shrill side.
A delightful production of SylviaBy risky (102 reviews) from Ashby de la zouch , 23 May 2011An excellent performance of Delibes' tuneful ballet Sylvia, which is up there with the best. Everything about the production, dancers, costumes and orchestra, is first class.Again however I was disappointed by the audience who clapped before the last note had died , which with Delibes notes is a must not.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideIt was a pleasure to see the revival of this ballet. The sets and costumes reflected the time of the work's composition, it is a beguiling melodic score. The chorography at times seems a little dated but for the leads we find Ashton at his best. Darcey Bussell is enchanting in the lead role and the others show the Royal Ballet in splendid form. The sound is excellent and the Blue Ray images detailed and beautiful to watch. It is such an asset to have the less familiar music available for a wider audience. Enjoy!
