People say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so leary must be one huge fan of Bill Hicks. There's nothing wrong with Leary's routine or his performance, in fact it is superbly crafted, it's just that everything he says was said earlier by Hicks and with more venom, but it was Leary that made the break into the meainstream while it always eluded Hicks. Probably because Leary lacks Hick's insight and political edge. So if you like your comics uncompromising, go for 'Bill Hicks - Totally' instead.
I love dennis leary in his other films so I thought that seeing him do stand-up would be different and it certianly was.
When he does stand-up he is completely different to his on screen persona which is good and bad depending on the films you have seen him do.
The Singing number (dont be put off just yet) are really good and funny.
Personally I would only recommend this to people who either enjoy smoking or really like dennis leary
