    [Highly rated reviewer]

Although I would not rate this as one of my favourite Dennis Potter works, it is still thoroughly enjoyable and for imagination and originality, far ahead of most TV drama.

Albert Finney is absolutely superb as the self destructive writer trying to make sense of what is happening to him. This is the first part of a two part serial, the sequel 'Cold Lazarus' I have yet to watch.

Potter has once again created a vivid world of his own imagination peopled with skewed offbeat characters, a pleasure to spend time there.

I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Loved it when it first appeared on TV and still love it.
