Schneider is Deuce Bigalow, a bumbling fish tank cleaner. When Antoine, a successful gigolo with a sick fish, has to leave the country for a few weeks, he offers Deuce the opportunity to housesit for him. Predictably, Deuce manages to trash the place and must enlist the aid of pimp TJ (Griffin) to help him pay for the damages. TJ turns him, in a series of absurd preparations, into a prostitute. The subsequent encounters with self-conscious females provide the film with its biggest laughs, and eventual moral: enable a woman to feel confident about herself and she will learn to love you no matter what you look like.

This taste-free comedy will either have you laughing like a drain or looking for the nearest exit. Pitched low and hitting even lower, Mike Mitchell's movie is an addition to the mainstream smut glut spawned by the success of There's Something about Mary and American Pie. Rob Schneider plays an idiot aquarist who, while fish-sitting for a male escort, gets hooked into servicing a clientele of his own. His customers embrace every conceivable physical and mental imperfection, from Tourette syndrome to missing limbs. Add an extra star if you find pratfalling pensioners funny.
With Adam Sandler among the executive producers, no one should be surprised that this is a gross, no-brow comedy lacking wit and sense, consisting merely of a series of crudely-done gags on bodily functions.
As the credits rolled on Deuce Bigalow I felt a palpable sense of loss; as if I were watching a loved one sail off into the sunset or perhaps even scattering their ashes over some sweeping plain.
In Deuce, mankind is gifted a character that we can immediately relate to on the most intimate terms, and one - through his intelligence, his classical heroism, his immutable joie de vivre- that we aspire to as something glorious yet attainable. He assumes a place at the very heart of the Western canon of philosophical creation, alongside such titans as Quixote, Candide, Huckleberry Finn and Odysseus.
Cinema of this order is a gilded and crested act, it inspires the heart to soar and the mind to wonder. I can think of no higher recommendation for Deuce Bigalow.
Utterly extraordinary.
THIS IS FANTASTIC!
I know tons of people who love this film, everyone I've lent it to has loved it, I love it and YOU will love it. There's no question about it, it's one of those comdedies that everyone can relate to, even my mam laughed!
