[Highly rated reviewer]
Powerful Gang Drama.
It's the middle of the 1950s and someone has died. Alley was found by his older brother Leon in a playground, looking beaten up but there is a darker side is found out later on in the film. It leaves Leon, Bobby and their mother in dispair but three years later they move on with Leon leading the Deuces gang. But the arrival of his arch enemy Marcus coming out of jail and getting back into his gang, Leon must fight with his gang to save his brother who is falling for the girl on the other side, his girlfriend and the place he calls home. It's a very powerful film, gripping and not letting go until the final shocking scenes. The pefomances from some known names are good from the rather nice Stephen Dorff, Matt Dilon, Frankie Mutz, Balthzaar Getty and James Franco, each pouring out charsmia or plain nastyness. It's a well recommended film though it's only on Region 1 but it's a brilliant film if you like the genre of gangs with some ear-piecring violence, West Side Story or Romeo and Juliet. But be warned, it dosen't end happy though it has a postive feeling when the creicts roll.
