(18)A Denzel film you've not seen! - Then hit play.
By MidnightMovieReviews (4 reviews) from Oxford , 09 Apr 2012Recommended especially if you're a Denzel fan, he doesn't disappoint. It also gives you an idea about how being black in 1950's America must have been. Overall the movie is a little predictable in places but if you're looking for some good evenings entertainment then sit back and enjoy.- Was this review helpful to you?

I didn't want to but I loved it
By a customer , 12 Feb 2012I didn't want to watch the film because I loved the book so much but I thoroughly enjoyed this well paced adaptation. The cinematopraphy is moody beyond belief and at times this can become annoying but the acting, the pacing of the direction, the costumes and music all go towards creating an amazing couple of hours.- Was this review helpful to you?

Only one saving grace
By Steve Hatton from Cornwall, England , 17 Dec 2011and thats Denzil Washington. The story was a convoluted lot of nonsense, eventually ending in the blindingly obvious and the direction pedestrian at best. Washington does his best with a lacklustre script, but I really found my self wondering what he was thinking when he took the part....- Was this review helpful to you?

Denzil Washington at his very best.
By Whipster (663 reviews) from Shropshire , 27 Jul 2010Classy and brilliantly realised period thriller. Denzil Washington is quite superb. The look is spot on, as is the soundtrack. Added to which the narrative is intelligent and intriguing. It doesn't have the over produced feel of so many similar Hollywood movies which only adds to the quality and allows you to believe in the characters. An excellent watch. 4 stars.- Was this review helpful to you?
