This film certainly lived up to its name - it was diabolical
A twisting turning thriller, but the characters leave you cold and, disappointingly, you don't really care about them. Still worth watching for some of the shocks and Kathy Bates in a great role.
This movie is a standard story of love, sex, betrayal and revenge.
What makes it better than average is a good performance from Sharon Stone and an outstanding performance from Isabelle Adjani. If you haven't heard of this beautiful French actress, this is worth watching for an introduction.

I found this slow, boring, terrible, poor movie.

It's not a bad film, but this is a virtually direct copy of the original in terms of plot, yet it somehow lacks the psychological tension. I would highly recommend you watch the original "Les Diaboliques" instead.
OK, this remake is in colour instead of black and white and busty Sharon stone is a little consolation, but apart from that, the overal quality is so much lower of the original. It lacks the psychological tension that was so intense in the original masterpiece. Was OK to fill the evening but definitely not worth watching again. Rarely do remakes exceed originals (see 'the mandchurian candidate' for a good exception IMHO)
An updated version of the original French film 'Les Diaboliques' (1954) . I just wanted to note that the French film is FAR superior so if you wish to chose between the two, the 1954 version is the one to watch. If you insist on watching the updated version, I found little to merit except the costumes and Sharon's eyebrows and the burlesque look of both the female leads. This English version also stars Kathy Bates in the role of an undercover police officer.
Isabel Adjani is usually good , but this lacked direction. It was not believeable , but wasnt surreal either.

This 1996 remake of the French movie of 1954 titled Les Diaboliques, stars Sharon Stone as the other woman, Isabelle Adjani as the abused wife and Chazz Palminteri the cruel cheating husband. Its tense; suspense filled and stars the wonder Kathy Bates as an inquisitive police detective. The movie was slated by many critics in the film world, but it held me on the edge of my seat and possibly as I didnt have the original as a measure found this a good view and it achieved thumbs up as far as I am concerned. I didnt have any preconceived view and watched the movie on its own merit.
i was expecting better , sharon stone is great in it, the other actress is horrid, she can not act , her character does not stay the same for to long which makes no sence, Nice twist to the story in the end which i enjoyed.
