Hitchcock did not try very hard to adapt this highly commercial play for the cinema, nor did he exploit the possibilities of 3-D. But for a one-room film with a not very exciting cast the film holds its grip pretty well.

My All Time Favourite Hitchcock Film

What an absolute stormer of a thriller. From start to finnish I was hooked on this film. I remember seeing this as a young man and being spellbound by the actors brilliant portrayal of the characters. Ray Milland is the real star of this murder mystery. The thought put into the murder actaully makes you want him to get away with it. Grace Kelly plays a woman trapped in a web of her husbands lies extremely well (why anyone married to Grace Kelly would want to have her killed is beyond me). This was originally a 3D movie (as the extras will tell you) but transfers so well.

If you like you murder mysteries (Poirot, Ms Marple, Midsommer Murder, Jonathan Creek etc) you will adore this film.

Hitchcock`s adaptation shines, even without 3D

Hitchcock sticks very closely to the celebrated play this is based upon, and doesn`t really open it up at all, all the better really as it is a fantastic, taut, well paced film, with the divine Grace kelly luminous and Ray Milland on top form. Hitchcock`s wonderful camera angles and dramatic use of colour further enhance this wordy, atmospheric movie and even without the 3D effects it is a fantastic piece of cinema, In-fact it was only released in 3D in a handful of Cinemas upon initial release.

Settle down, put your feet up and revel in this glorious film, not quite up there with the Birds. Rear Window or Vertigo but definately among Hitch`s best work.

    HITCHCOCK SUSPENCE

DIAL M FOR MURDER was filmed in 3D, but very few cinemas showed it in 3d. If you have colorcode 3d or Tridef 3d installed on your pc, the effects add to the enjoyment of the film. As the present 3d conversion is done from a single image, the famous scene with the hand, does not project much out of the screen, but the depth is very good.

    A classic thriller

It makes a refreshing change to watch a film that doesn't jump around from one

sub plot to another, all your attention is focused on the main story line. Impeccable acting and a brilliant view of life in the 50's. A reminder of what life was like before we embraced the technological era.

    A fanastic film

I have seen this many times before.

Excellent performer from the three main characters. I think the actor Wiliams who played the detective was superb.

Try not to answer the phone!!!

Not a Fantastic flim but Its Brilliant. Theres a fine line between these two extremes. Enjoyed lots because of Hitchcocks part of how they gonna explain this. then I enjoyed it lots more because of Grace Kelly. Not her best acting but the film keeps you gripped until boom the ending. One for Hitchcock fans!!!!
