Clueless meets All the President's Men in this comedy, which stars Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams as two dim teens who stumble into the Watergate break-in and soon find themselves working as presidential dogwalkers for Tricky Dick. It playfully tweaks at the Watergate myths, with the girls becoming fixtures in the Nixon White House and eventually serving as Deep Throat for vain, bumbling reporters Woodward and Bernstein. Dunst and Williams are a pleasure to watch, equal parts innocence and idiocy. Williams's taped confession of her crush on the president is a high point, as is Dan Hedaya as a foul-mouthed Nixon. Light-hearted, goofy fun.
"...A devilishly clever satire....This audacious, imaginative political comedy will have Watergate buffs in particular, and baby boomers in general, laughing loud and long..."
Dan Hedaya is the scene stealer in this film about 2 girls who wind up as Tricky Dicky's official dog-walkers to stop them from spilling the beans over the Watergate scandal. However, Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams work well together as do Will Ferrell and Bruce McCullough as the 2 journalists eager to break the story. I laughed more than I'd expected to and our 15 year old daughter enjoyed this even though she knew nothing of the Nixon era. A good choice if your teenagers are having a girlie night in.
Totally rubbish, after watching this i felt abused.
Children were given the chance to select their favourite films, TV programmes and celebrities yesterday at the annual Children's Bafta awards. More than 6,000 children voted in the best film category - the only one to be decided by fans - and picked Pixar's animated ogre tale Shrek 2 as the year's best movie. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third instalment in the hugely successful movie franchise of the works by JK Rowling, was voted in at second place. On TV, slightly disturbing Read more
