  • Better than your average teen-flick

Dan Hedaya is the scene stealer in this film about 2 girls who wind up as Tricky Dicky's official dog-walkers to stop them from spilling the beans over the Watergate scandal. However, Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams work well together as do Will Ferrell and Bruce McCullough as the 2 journalists eager to break the story. I laughed more than I'd expected to and our 15 year old daughter enjoyed this even though she knew nothing of the Nixon era. A good choice if your teenagers are having a girlie night in.

This very, very silly teen comedy sees Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams bumbling around Richard Nixon’s (Dan Hedaya) White House, only to unwittingly become Deep Throat. The script is light as a feather, but it’s use of historical events and the way it works the characters into them is cleverer than you might expect and Dunst and Williams give nicely pitched performances. It’s also worth a watch for the supporting cast. Hedaya has a ball as Dick, Will Ferrell and Bruce McCulloch are very funny as a fiercely competitive Woodward and Bernstein and Ryan Reynolds pops up briefly. Dumb fun, no more, no less.

  • Underrated

    Rated - 5.0 stars

Vastly underrated political satire masquerading as a teen comedy that will only appeal to people who:

A)Have seen All the President's Men and have a basic understanding of 1970s US political history

    AND

    B) Have a sense of humour

If you can tick one or fewer of those boxes then this film is not for you. In fact you are probably responsible for its box office failure. I liked this film a lot and if you fit in both the A and the B demographics, you will too. It is silly and clever and should be much better known than it is. The actors playing Nixon and his staff especially are wonderful.

Judging by the reviews included on this website I was expecting this film to be really good but sadly me and my friends were very disappointed by this film. Maybe you just have to find girls screaming randomly funny!

  • Dick's Dog Walkers did him down!

Some films portray important moments in history to make the audience consider what could have happened if alternative solutions had been taken.

This comedy with the great Dan Hedaya portraying Richard Nixon on the other hand, provides an alternative solution to the historical enigma.

The cast performed beautifully, the production was very well put together and the costumes were magnificent.

I think that the secret of this film lies in the width of audience that it should appeal to, from the aficionados of the whole Watergate scandal and Nixon's subsequent resignation to adolescents who just like to see youth making a difference.

It may not have been hilarious but it was clever, well written and funny. The teenage actresses Kirsten Dunst (17) and Michelle Williams (19) showed not only their acting experience but also those extra qualities that have since been evident in their subsequent successes such as 'Mona Lisa Smile' and 'Brokeback Mountain' respectively.

I enjoyed this film and would heartily recommend it to others, I am glad that the Tesco computer suggested it.

    Well worth the money!
