I decided to write this because the production is so engaging. The musical performance is fine - not 'topflight' but competent. The production, though, is very good, especially in the way the characters relate to each other. Some will take exception to W and B occupying discrete areas of the stage in act 3. It's 'modern', and it won't suit everybody, especially since it's also economical in the financial sense; people who like to shoot productions down will find it an easy target. If you go with it though, it's excellent, and I felt compelled to rewatch it twice in a way I wasn't with the 'Met' DVDs, where the production is so perfunctory that you might as well (IMHO) stay with the audio recording. Anyway, you can watch it without buying here, so watch it!
I think the music is great and the singing pretty good but the modern setting was a bit silly although I dare say it made the production a good deal cheaper.
