I suspected the film wouldn't exactly be award-winning material, but I was looking at the lack of reviews and ratings and figured I might be lucky enough to have come across a hidden gem.

    Of course I hadn't.

The effects were obsolete three decades before the film even went into production, the acting is as atrocious as can be expected (especially the young boy who rattles off his lines as if he were in his first school play) and the set-up of characters and plot is absolutely laughable, even when compared to other B-movies of its time. When you have a priceless frozen T-Rex on your tropical island, would you leave it out to THAW while you wait for the paleontologists to come have a look? I'll ignore the 'Caveman + Dinosaurs' bit as it's fairly familiar territory for these films to combine the two.

The caveman is actually impressive considering the rest of the film. I'm not sure if it's make-up or just the actor's facial features, but he really does look like something out of the past (which probably means it isn't make-up. I doubt they'd do it as well as this.) No Encino Man here. He's the only reason the film has a whole star, even if his scenes - the intended comic relief of the film - are painful to watch most of the time, well-cast though he might be.

There really is too much ridiculousness to get through it all, so I'll round this up by saying that it's not even worth skipping to the climactic dinosaur vs. dinosaur battle. You'd be better off watching the original King Kong. MUCH better off.

I've seen worse (far worse),its got acting, a proper plot and dino's. Overly cute kid,a nasty baddie, a comedy caveman and heavy plant equipment.
