The ultimate feel-good movie, which works a curious charismatic magic and catapulted the then-unknown Patrick Swayze to stardom. Intended as a low-budget filler, this sentimental but never cloying tale of sexual awakening at a Jewish holiday camp in 1963 became a much-loved blockbuster and kick-started major industry careers for its production team. The casting is perfect, with ex-dancer Swayze as the sexy bad boy dancing coach and Jennifer Grey as the feisty middle-class teenager, and their relationship never strikes a false note. But what really makes the film unmissable is the fabulous dancing which, despite being highly erotic, is never tacky.

Wonderful
As this is my favourite movie of all time I can honestly say it is fantastic!!! A magically heart warming, love story with a fabulous soundtrack and Patrick Swayze's dance moves to boot! At the same time touching on a number of emotive issues thoughtfully and with sensitivity which lifts this movie above the rest - sit back relax - see it MY WAY !

A scene from the 1980s romantic movie Dirty Dancing has been voted as the best movie moment of all-time. Mobile phone manufacturer Sony Ericsson carried out a survey of 1,200 film fans, and many movies considered as classics were shunned for more recent releases. The Dirty Dancing scene where Patrick Swayze lifts Jennifer Gray from the water came top of the list, followed by Harrison Ford's shooting of a skilled swordsman in Raiders Of The Lost Ark.
