The ultimate feel-good movie, which works a curious charismatic magic and catapulted the then-unknown Patrick Swayze to stardom. Intended as a low-budget filler, this sentimental but never cloying tale of sexual awakening at a Jewish holiday camp in 1963 became a much-loved blockbuster and kick-started major industry careers for its production team. The casting is perfect, with ex-dancer Swayze as the sexy bad boy dancing coach and Jennifer Grey as the feisty middle-class teenager, and their relationship never strikes a false note. But what really makes the film unmissable is the fabulous dancing which, despite being highly erotic, is never tacky.
In many ways, a routine teen-flick with its '60s setting, sex, rock'n'roll and interfering stereotypical adults; but... read more on Time Out
"...Some nice dance sequences and a likable performance by Jennifer Grey make the film more than watchable..."
As this is my favourite movie of all time I can honestly say it is fantastic!!! A magically heart warming, love story with a fabulous soundtrack and Patrick Swayze's dance moves to boot! At the same time touching on a number of emotive issues thoughtfully and with sensitivity which lifts this movie above the rest - sit back relax - see it MY WAY !
There's not many movie that I can say I can watch again and again but this film I can. My kid sister got me into this movie, she went to see it at the pics when it was first released after her fifth time of seeing it she'd run out of friends to go with and pleaded with me to go. I thought the last thing I want to see is some Teeny Boppy Dance film. Anyway she was paying so I went, how wrong I was!!
This is a good family movie, music that all ages will enjoy, great story. It will make you laugh, cry & swoon (Patrick Swayze).
I remember seeing this movie at the age of 17 in 1987 and it has become one of my favourite films of all time and I have a copy on video but I am now buying on DVD. The music and dancing is electric even after 17 years since it was first made. The two main characters were made for each other.
This film has not aged at all and for a gal of the ripe age of 34 it is timeless and can be watched over and over again. To be honest I have lost count how many times I have watched it.
Thought this film had a very good story line. Also brilliant dancing, and music too.Good entertainment for any age.

still feel this was one of the best films that was out at the time .such great music and the dancing in it made it the hit it was
Absolutely fantastic when you are a teenage girl but I was surprised how much I still enjoyed it as an adult - certainly not a guy film but it has the classic issues of love, honour, integrity, friendship, etc. - and Patrick Swayze's dancing of course!
This film is timeless. No matter how many times I watch it it is as great as the first time.
This is my favourite film(with grease). What I love about this film is the fact that they did not choose two realy beautiful hollywood actors to play the parts of baby and Johnny.Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze are totaly believable because we can relate to them. This is a truly great film with a knockout ending.Have the time of your life and watch this.
I cant believe that i am the 1st person to write a review on this film, it is really good and it a classic! you must add this too your wish list and view it for your self!!
This is an all time classic and one that can be watched over and over again without you getting tired of it. The music and dancing really draw you in and make you want to be a part of it all.
I don't know anyone who hasn't seen this film, but if you they exist "watch it, it's a must see!"
In some ways, a typical chick-flick, but nonetheless a fun film - Swayze is believable though the lass' naivity makes you cringe! An eighties classic well worth a rental (as if you have not seen it already!)

"...Some nice dance sequences and a likable performance by Jennifer Grey make the film more than watchable..."
Mildly agreeable variant on Saturday Night Fever, almost equally successful at the box-office.
"...Nicely bittersweet....A drive and a pulse that give the film real excitement..."
