Dixon meets The Sweeny!
By DrSmith (2 reviews) , 06 Jan 2013[Highly rated reviewer]
If you were a child of the 1950s you are probably thinking this set of Dixon of Dock Green DVDs will take you down memory lane. Alas, the early episodes of Dixon, broadcast live in black and white from rickety studio sets, with actors regularly missing their cues and a few very obviously filmed location inserts, are no longer available. These Dixons are something else entirely but no less enjoyable. Think Dixon meets The Sweeny and see these episodes as a tribute to the characters who could change with the times and still turn in a convincing performance.- Was this review helpful to you?

By a customer , 22 Aug 2012As a child of the seventies this was interesting viewing. Although it is a bit wooden, the plots are good and the insights into social attitudes are fascinating. Outside shooting in and around the London docks is also interesting.- Was this review helpful to you?
