What a cast! What a letdown! After a one-film absence, Dirk Bogarde reluctantly returned to the role of Simon Sparrow in this muddled comedy and immediately announced he'd never step inside St Swithin's again. Faced with a script that reads like a medical school rag mag, the cast plods through the picture as though under anaesthetic. James Robertson-Justice has the most fun as the lovesick Lancelot Spratt and Leo McKern as a film producer flirting with starlet Jill Adams takes an accurate pot shot at movie moguls, but Bogarde looks bored, and Samantha Eggar and Mylène Demongeot are required to do nothing more than provide the glamour.
Tedious flummery whose characters fail to perform with the old pizazz.
This is the least enjoyable of the 'Doctor In' films. The story is ludicrous and I cannot recall anything I found funny in the whole film.
Pity! All the other films in the series were excellent, to my mind.
I was very disappointed in this film as i thought it was not going to be as funny but i hardly laughed at all while watching it. It just wasn't what i was expecting and i must admit i don't think it is worth watching.
But everyone is different so even though i didn't like it someone might think differently to me.
