  • Richard Gere was never so disappointing

Any film that starts with a doctor peering up the skirts of a simpering old lady wasn't exactly going to appeal to either the male or female UK audience. This whole film seems based on the false premise that we're interested in what goes on in a gynacologists surgery. The result is something that'll make most women cringe and probably men too. Helen Hunts 'love interest' character initially looks promising and easy to empathise with, and we assume its a thread we will follow and relate to, but by the end just leaves us feeling like we've been taken for a ride. The only thing I can imagine this film being famous for is the lesbian relationship portrayed between Kate Hudson and Liv Tylers characters, which jars oddly with the rest of the film. Yet the best performance in the whole thing is Farrah Fawcett playing the demented wife, dancing around a mall naked and generally acting like a real wild child. Whilst the majority of the movie is loosely based on the real world, the ending just looses it completely, seems disjointed from the rest and is in no way a believable conclusion to what is a very ropey story.

  • An afternoon's light entertainment

I had some difficulty getting in to the film at the beginning because the film was difficult to follow and there was a plethora of characters so I assumed that this was intentional. The film was light hearted throughout with a council scene which, I thought, could have been cut. Not up to Richard Gere's usual standard but O. K. for afternoon viewing!

I read some bad reviews and thought, how bad could it be really? Well, let me tell you, it was god awful. Seriously don't even bother with this, no matter how much of a Gere, Hunt, Hudson, Altman fan you are. There is barely a storyline, and it doesn't go anywhere at all, the ending (which feels like it takes forever to get to) is bad. If you do rent it on the other hand, I can't wait to say 'I told you so...' Enjoy!

Was looking forward to this but was disappointed with the script and the ending. The acting though was good.

  • Do not watch this if you have a headache!

The opening scene is enough to put anyone off. The sound of a dozen pretentious, rich and over-the-top American women all talking at once about everything and nothing was absolutely horrendous and excrutiating! It carried on pretty much through the rest of what I could bear to watch! Watch it only if you want to see Farah Fawcett running around naked in a fountain in a supermarket mall!.
