I have read reviews on other sites that some people give this top marks, (Obviously have never watched any Tom Baker or Jon Pertwee then), this just baffles me.
Its hard to believe this is written by the same author as the excellent Remembrance of the Daleks.
This story like so many other of McCoy era seems to have a common theme that somewhere in the past, the Doctor laid some artifact down, and is now being hunted by the enemy.
It attempts to be 'cool' with its dialogue, but I just found the 'street' talk annoying.
I never really liked the 7th Doctor era of Who, perhaps having been indulged by the 3RD-5TH Doctor era, and on revisting this release, my position remains the same.
This is also an abridged edit, so its hard to see the extended scenes, unless you watch the original before hand. (I thought the BBC abandoned this format back in the late 80's, when this was the norm on the early VHS releases)
I remember watching this as a child and I never saw the end of it so thats one of the reason's why I rented it. I remember it being really scary and interesting and I could not wait seeing what happened in the end.
Watching it now I could not believe this was the same show I watched as a child. I could not understand a word they were saying and I did not know what was going on. Even my brother who is a big Doctor Who fan could not explain the story and thought it was rubbish. However it was rubbish in a good way. If you want a laugh at some of the effects and funny lines it is entertainment. The special features are quite interesting. I have to admit I wish I had not watched it and remember it as I remember it as a child.
