My 10-yr-old grandson, currently obsessed with David Tennant and that lot was delighted with this and it took me back to the days when I used to watch Dr Who for MY OWN entertainment. So some of the Daleks have London accents and the flying saucer looks like something Ed Wood (Plan 9 from Outer Space) would have been proud of... but it works. We watched two and a half hours (great value) pretty well non-stop. Terry Nation was the Russell T Davies of his day and the perennial themes of alien invasion and threatened civilisation shine through. For the kids it's action-packed and for us older "sophisticates" it's a bit of time-travel in itself seeing how TV film techniques and, just as much, social attitudes have changed. Next stop Patrick Troughton and the Cybermen.
