Average 70's Who.
By JAMIOUSE (49 reviews) from PILMOOR, YORK , 27 Nov 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
I really wanted to like Destiny Of The Daleks, there are things to enjoy within the story but it is overshadowed by the gaping plot holes and hit & miss production values. Coming after the Key To Time season which to me apitamises late 70's Who - half baked ideas that when realised just don't work, I had hopes for Destiny. The whole Rommana regeneration scene is stupid and it is not explained why is she regenerating, why doesn't the Doctor realise there on Skaro, where are the Thals, why does the Dalek city look nothing like it did in previous stories, why have we never heard of or seen the Movellans before / since, where does Destiny fit in with the rest of the Dalek stories and how is Davros so easily awaken?
Problems aside the DVD is another winner, the picture and sound are fantastic and the optional CGI effects are always welcome. The documentary Terror Nation is informative and intresting and cronicles the Terry Nation written Dalek stories. It's worth a rent if your a Dalek fan.- Was this review helpful to you?

By nurseboy (54 reviews) from oxford , 05 Dec 2011excellent nostalgic vist to the tardis, classic late 70s dalek episode, unsuprisingly the production values are fairly low but the story and the delight of old who is uncomparable. plus davros was still scary (but that could just be me) not a lot else to say, solid story, daleks and tom Baker. a winning combination!- Was this review helpful to you?

Good to Reminisce
By vexpez (38 reviews) from Blackpool, England , 16 Feb 2011Never saw this episode as a teenager, but now I'm a lot older you tend to notice the low budget stuff, but Davros still scares the **** out of me. Enjoyable but very dated.- Was this review helpful to you?

Terror Nation
By a customer from Scotland , 09 Dec 2009This is an average but not one of the v good Dalek stories.
The special features are interesting though. 2 good docus, one about Terry Nation with lots of input from the great Nicholas Briggs. The other, an interview with director Ken Grieve. He remembers alot from his work almost 30 years ago!- Was this review helpful to you?

okay.
By emperor10 (202 reviews) from newcastle upon tyne , 29 Oct 2009following the fantastic (and in my view the best doctor who story) 'genesis of the daleks', i was looking forward to this davros story.however, i shoulf have realised that this was not the davros previously brilliantly played by micheal wisher.although its the same makeup and mask, this was a pale version.the make up looked so much plyed on,that the actors mouth could barely move.also, the actor did not seem to use the hysterical, over that top, manical character previously used. the plot was so-so.and to be honest,it was acting by numbers. it passed the time,though.- Was this review helpful to you?
