It's always nice to see a lab full of equipment which (as far as the story was concerned) was state of the art stuff for some fantastic experiment when we now know that a simple pocket calculator is more powerful than all the stuff put together... Dr Fendelman's lab is full of such equipment, and the story has the requisite mad/driven scientist, evil underling, local heroes and villains, a tragic innocent and of course the Doctor and Leela, who provide wry amusement with their verbal fencing. Of course, when I first saw this on TV about thirty years ago, I was young enough to look at Leela with a very different perception...

Fantastic story from the definitive doctor with the usual great special features.

My only gripe is why do the BBC include an audio navigation menu on a lot of the recent Doctor Who's but not a soundtrack for visually impaired on the feature itself? Seems a bit half rsed to me.

I am a big fan of dr. who and tom baker particularly - but even he cannot save this poor outing. The script is dire, the plot slogs along painfully and comes to an almost embarassing conclusion (which i wont bore you with). The only interesting part i found, was going 'oh look theres charlie slater from eastenders' (briefly). Mercifully its only 4 episodes long.

I have rented alot of the old tom baker dr whos fairly recently and this is clearly the worst! I would recommend 'the ark in space' intead, which is streets ahead in the scipt department.
