Volume 2 is interesting to say the least. The first two episodes are a two-parter that is based in post-war New York. The daleks are not at their best, as one has emotions, so the scare factor is not quite as good. However episodes 3 and 4 on the disc make up for this. The Lazurus experiment is super scary, whereas 42 is edge of your seat stuff. To say the least a brilliant disc, a necessity to all fans of the doctor.
The Dalek episodes in this series are probably the weakest of either the new series or the original Who, but the Lazarus Experiment makes up for this to some extent. The story '42' is very much a stand alone story, despite the growing influence of Harold Saxon in the background.
