  • A bit dated, but Liz Sladen is on form..

Not a great budget was spent on this, but Liz Sladen and Philip Madoc, who plays the deranged Solon, carry this romp through. The Sisterhood of Karn don't give the impression of being as powerful as they are made to be but their dance and ceremonies are typical of 1970s style Dr Who.

a hybrid of frankenstien, with a taste of forbidden plant, this is one of the better doctor who stories. atmospheric, yes, some of the effects are questionable, but still very good.

  • Rightfully deemed a classic

This is one of the best 'Doctor Who' stories from the earlier series, with Tom Baker on top form, taking on a Time Lord in a very different guise, centuries after his supposed 'death'. There is also an estimable opponent in mad scientist Philip Madoc. Worth a look. Don't expect the special effects from the new series, though!

  • A 70's Classic

I remember watching this one when it was first shown originally and it's a classic 70's Tom Baker episode, with Elizabeth Sladen in fine screaming form as Sarah Jane Smith. We have an evil genius, a group of women with their own agenda, and of course, a repulsive monster and the Doctor is caught between them.

It's also the inspiration for the Fires of Pompeii episode in the recent series with David Tennant and Catherine Tate (Tom Baker even refers to Pompeii, and check out the similarity between the two groups of women worshippers in both series)
