Doctor Who - The Key To Time Details

TOM AT HIS BEST BUT THE PROGRAMME ON THE SLIDE

The whole season, in 1978, was the late producer Graham Williams’ idea and was in it's time on the back of Star Wars, a great piece of 'kids' tele.

I can remember the original transmissions like they were yesterday... however with such linked stories, very much like the new Doctor Who series (where Russell T Davis has obviously stolen that idea from Williams!), can make the viewer weary by the end of it all.

And generally the conclusion is and in the case, definitely not really worth waiting for, having viewed the previous 25 weeks. Definitely 'budget' Who but does not skimp on the talent. Tom is superb and blusters his way through the whole 26 weeks with gusto, getting camper by the length of his scarf. Mary Tamm is competent and allows the Dad's a vista to enjoy. The supporting cast for all the stories is of a very high standard and too many of them to mention here.

Shame the ideas in the plotlines are so old and have that feeling of 'all been done before'.

In the case of this box set there are so many DVD extras, they nearly out weigh the actual programmes and are frankly quite tedious. The old footage of studio is boring... and the recurring self-congratulations are vomit inducing... I am afraid that the 'producers/instigators' of such 'special' DVD extras names keep on popping up where I do believe a fresh approach to such production would be better if not at all.

So please Ed Stradling and Dan Hall stop what you are doing and go back to your normal days work... it would help the programme greatly for a new influx of young Dr Who fans who have not yet discovered the classic serial just by watching the story unfold not the ins and outs of why, how, when, if, what and please no more... I was the then Chairman of the DWAS in those days and we enjoyed it for the fun of it all not all this malarkey.

Enjoy the show but please for your own sake in small bursts.

well i was only six when thiswas first broadcast so story arc etc etc didnt matter to me just action and seeing the tardis and k-9

this is a great story and quiet touching in some places

the thing that i realise about classic who the more that i revisit it is that there are some great stories out ther and its a shame that due to tight budgets and poor production values they can never be retold in the new who format !

unless of course the doctor can revisit old adventures?

it is after all possible without the interfering timelords !!!!!!!

the key to time is a great season baker hams it up and douglas adams and the production team with star wars iinspiration send who into a different direction still can,t dicided which incarnation of romana i prefer ?

baker for me will always be the best doctor !
