It just gets better and better

This new series continues to be outstanding. The entertaining 'Long Game', the emotional 'Father's Day, the scary 'The Empty Child' and the joyous 'The Doctor Dances'. Four very different stories all done with conviction. You must rent this DVD. There's nothing to loose!

    Are you my mummy?

Missed so many episodes of this new series when they were first screened that it was GREAT to catch up through the DVDs. The writing is genius and the World War Two story - which spans two of the four episodes on this DVD, 'The Empty Child' and 'The Doctor Dances' - has everything: humour, chills, heart-tugging emotion, great special effects, the gorgeous John Barrowman and a fantastic storyline. Let's hope the next series can keep up the terrific standard that's been set here.

    WHO WOW!

A fantastic return to the livingroom, it does for kids of today what it did for me, Saturday night behind the sofa hiding from the Dalek's. This disc hosts my fav of this series with great effects and storylines to to challenge the originals, not to mention a feast of Daleks.

    An English Rose

Rose stole the show in these episodes. Father's Day was a poignant moment in her journey and explained a lot that we had seen in series two with the parrallel world. The 'are you my mummy?' episodes were chilling and eerie and the introduction of Captain Jack very well done. I felt that these episodes were very well written and the stories were strong and exciting, shame about the Doctor. It was confirmed to me with thesse episodes that I am a fan of David Tennant not Doctor Who - I would highly recommend the second series but not the first - I find Chistopher Eccleston very dull to watch.

    Time Travelling with Twists

The first series of the new Doctor Who continue with the same pace and energy of its earlier episodes. There are some strong performances from a high quality supporting cast, and you can tell Eccleston is really starting to explore the depth of his character. Still a real suprise for me is how polished a performance is delivered from Billie Piper. Some time travel techies may pick some holes in the time travel aspect of the episodes but they never prevent you from suspending your disbelief. This is definetley not the Doctor Who of old, but in my opinion that is a good thing. Doctor Who has changed with times and has done it style!
