I have to disagree with my colleague below. This vintage Doctor Who at it's best.
The Rescue is a marvellously creepy little tale about a crashed ship on an alien world.
Historical adventure, the Romans is rather more comedic but It feels epic (despite budget limitations) and I learned a thing or two by the end.
In just two short stories, we can see how different Doctor Who can be - which is why the show has endured and will continue to endure for years to come.- Was this review helpful to you?

A nice try
By a customer from Yorkshire , 20 Oct 2009Maybe this black and white segment of the show's history IS starting to look tired and out of place amongst the modern pantheon. Hartnell is as excellent as ever and there is nothing particularly wrong with the story. Unfortunately, it all rather tails off in the middle, which considering it is only two episodes is some achievement. Above all, though, it is the '60s techniques which really show it up. Such a shame, as Hartnell really WAS the Doctor.- Was this review helpful to you?
