This slight and silly comedy features a hyper-energetic Ben Stiller and an almost catatonic Vince Vaughn in a familiar story of the little guy battling against the odds. Vaughn owns a run-down gym that fitness tycoon Stiller wants to buy up and it's only by forming a dodgeball team and going to Las Vegas to win $50,000 in the national championships that Vaughn and his rag-tag band of under-achievers can save the day. Along the way, Vaughn's team is whipped into shape by Rip Torn's insane coach (“If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball!”) and challenged by a variety of bizarre opponents, including a David Hasselhoff-obsessed German team. It's even dafter than it sounds, but filled with such good-natured spirit that it's easy to succumb to the movie's simple-minded charms — the faux 1938 instructional film on how to play the game is worth the price of admission alone.

Fitfully amusing broad farce that aims low and hits its target.

    Fantastic

Brilliant film. I am a massive Ben Stiller film and he does not disappoint in this offering. Predictable story, but so well acted by all of the stars that it gets away with it. Stiller is excellent, Christine Taylor is stunning and Vince Vaughn is surprisingly good as the hapless good guy. The extras are good and the length of the film is just right. The supporting cast are perfect and Rip Torn hams it up as the non-pc coach. If you fancy a 90 minute-long laugh, then go hire this!!

Ben Stiller's best character performance to date as the self-styled guru, performing gung-ho on info adverts, with the hilarious catchphrase 'because we're better than you; and you know it!'. This is a high point. Vaughn tries his best to appear insecure and humble - but it's against his character; it works, he can act, but you know him too well to accept his humility in the face of Stiller's overt nastiness. It seems the genre of underdog sports movie still isn't wearing thin even 10 years after Teenwolf and The Might Ducks. And Hasselhoff is becoming increasingly popular as an iconic figure - he helped bring down the Berlin Wall after all. Brilliant.

Separates the men from the boys, the awkwardly feminine from the possibly Canadian

Absolutely hilarious, had me in stitches throughout. The whole wrench dodging scene gave me spasms, as did the cracking cameo from Lance Armstrong. Also fab cameos from Hasselhoff, Shatner and Norris. I'm off to watch it again.

    deja vu

as soon as you turn it on, you know exactly what is gonna happen from start to finish, but that is not a problem for me. Funny movie with a great ending (the only bit that is a suprise so I won't spoil it!) worth watching.

    Crude but funny

As you might expect, the humour in this is juvenile and crude but that's not such a bad thing as this is still for the most part pretty funny.

The best moments come from Rip Torn as the unhinged coach, who delivers some great put-downs to his team, the funniest being something to do with lollipops.

There are also a few odd but enjoyable cameos from some semi-forgotten stars of yesteryear.

If you don't expect this to be a masterpiece you'll come away quite happy.

    BEN GETS WORSE AND WORSE

I WAS REALLY HOPING FOR A DECENT COMEDY, BUT THIS MOVIE IS PATHETIC. BEN STILLER CANT SEEM TO FIND A DECENT MOVIE TO STAR IN! THE ONLY MOVIE HE WAS EVER GOOD IN WAS 'THERES SOMETHING ABOUT MARY'. THIS MOVIE IS BADLY ACTED, POOR STORY LINE, AND BORING, BORING, BORING.

DO YOURSELVES A FAVOUR AND DONT BOTHER!!

    Absolutely Brilliant....

I LOVED this film. It has to be the funniest comedy of 2004. The performances are brilliant and keep a look out for some excellent cameos.

Miss this and you are missing a truly awesome film.

    A Suprisingly good comedy!

It's not gonna win any oscars with it's crude nature but Dodgeball will satisfy your comedy taste, roles reverse for the usually good guy/loser character that Ben Stiller would commonly adopt. Stiller playes White Goodman a power crazed Gym enthusiast opposing him is Peter Lafleur played by Vince Vaughn, both actors fit there roles perfectly but as usual Stiller steals the show, quick gags and crude humour Dodgeball is a bag of laughs for any taste!
