Director Moody Shoaibi's low-budget British film focuses on four cash-strapped West Londoners who concoct a scheme to kidnap a celebrity writer's pet dog. But their get-rich-quick scheme goes literally to the dogs when they inadvertently petnap the pooch of local crime boss Jesus (overplayed by Gary Kemp, Martin's older brother). Much unpleasantness ensues, both for the characters and — to some extent — the audience. The young black leads — including rising stage star David Oyelowo — do their best, and guest spots by Melanie Blatt, Ricky Gervais and Alan Davies boost the film's profile. But, for all its flash and bravado, there's no escaping the fact that Dog Eat Dog, an unholy hybrid of Kevin and Perry Go Large and South West Nine, is nowhere near as quirky and original as it obviously thinks it is.

amusing film maybe but no comedy

Dog eat dog is a comedy of four aspiring DJ's who need to make some money quick time but have a number of personal problems. Rooster (Mark Tonderai) selling porn for his 'Get Rich Quick', but causes problems with local crime lord who is quite amusing. Chang is fighting for custody for his daughter. CJ girlfriend is cheating on him and jess finds a girlfriend and brags to his mates and looses her.

It's an amusing film set in Britain with British actors throughout which is novel nowadays. It's a debut for Director/writer Moody Shoaibi and not a bad effort for a first time movie.
