pretty goodBy mhead (28 reviews) from Wakefield , 13 Mar 2012
[Highly rated reviewer]This film seems to have people split down the middle mostly due to the fact guillermo del torro is attached to it. I personally enjoyed it quite a lot and del torros influence is clear to see which is always a good thing. Give it a fair chance and you won't be dissapointed.

Not good enough.By a customer , 15 Apr 2013Good storyline, but the acting annoyed me all the way through. The little girl in particular. The character was just so petulant, ignorant, disobedient and totally un-loveable, which doesn't make me root for her throughout the film at all! Also, the 'monster' was revealed way too early. I like it more when you can't see the evil thing or killer until the end. The idea was there, but the rest was a let down unfortunately.
Is it supposed to be funny?By a customer , 14 Apr 2013The best thing about this film is the girl who plays the main character- she is convincingly very scared in many of the scenes. There was nothing else good about the film. The storyline itself is not bad, but it's so utterly underdeveloped. It's been wasted. Sometimes the scariest things are the things we can't see- and I think the 'little things' were introduced too early, sucking the anxiety out from the film. If you are looking for something scary... don't go for this one. I think I laughed a couple of times. This might be a good 'bad movie' to watch.
Fairytale horrorBy Sausage42 (46 reviews) , 03 Apr 2013This was an odd mix of Grimm fairytale and horror. At times it felt like I was watching a Disney children's adventure story as the little girl explores the house her dad is restoring but then it will take a seriously creepy twist which is actually quite unsettling. I watch a lot of horror films and this one actually scared me in places. However as a whole film it doesn't really work for me, the 2 styles are very distinct and it often feels like 2 films are intruding on eachother rather than one complete movie
Very goodBy a customer , 23 Mar 2013I really liked this film, it wasn't exactly scary but it had a good story and made me jump. Didn't quite get the end, was that Kim's voice? Overall very good.
Give it a try!By underwater (1 review) , 22 Mar 2013I loved this film; not the best in the world but certainly entertaining. I usually stick to world cinema when it comes to horror as I find the stories from Korea and Japan more original and creepy. This film was a refreshing move away from Hollywood's predictable slasher movies, filled with teenage nudity. The little girl was a wonderful actress. A modern take on traditional folklore. Give it a try!
