A low octane Don
This Don has high quality singing but is somewhat lacking in dramatic effect.
The staging is excellent. Thomas Allen as the Don has the required combination of charisma and menace but the acting in general is poor.
Sound quality is rather disappointing – the subtleties of Mozart’s wonderful orchestration do not register as they should. -
