    i surprise

Nearly two years ago, on an Iberian airlines flight to South America, I found myself watching what looked like a very cheap, very 'cinema verite'-esque foreign film. Mainly due to the rather endearing lead (Bernal - who hadn't yet hit the UK in a major way), I continued watching and found myself drawn into the film in the uncomfortable way in which you find yourself semi-awake during a nightmare. The story is mainly exposed through the lead's home video footage, but the real purpose of his filming, and indeed the real purpose of all of the characters is only revealed in a series of clever and genuinely unpredictable twists quite a long way into the film. The film looks like a student offering, the acting and directing style is unashamedly amateur-tinged, but if you stick with it, which I suggest you do, you'll find the unusual look and sickly intriguing sequence of events might just surprise you. Or was it just me, desperate to be relieved by the airline's spanish sketch-show overkill?

    Great Film

Although a little slow at the begining, what a good film it turned out to be. It has a lot of twists and turns and well worth watching to the end.
