By Bobsview (549 reviews) from Gloucestershire , 15 Mar 2013Highly implausible thriller but it is entertaining and engaging. Holds your attention with some surprising action scenes. Rat husband fakes his own murder , and wife is convicted.,goes to prison , and loses touch with her son. Tommy Lee Jones her parole officer-saves the film as it lurches towards its violent climax. In the end a good watchable film- Was this review helpful to you?

clunky but watchable
By kafka11 (14 reviews) , 28 Nov 2012a paint by numbers job that moves along pleasantly. No real invention and reminiscent of a Murder She Wrote episode.
Some cheesy editing, and it is hard to believe that this was the same director that brought us the wonderful Driving Miss Daisy.- Was this review helpful to you?

A good film that is well worth watching, full of thrills, excitement, action and twists.
By roncoach (365 reviews) from suffolk , 22 Aug 2012What a good little film from the late 1990s. Worth seeing again.
Slight overtones of 'Sleeping With The Enemy' ( with very different storyline); also 'The Fugitive' because Tommy Lee Jones plays virtually the same role as the character he played in Fugitive.
Tommy Lee Jones is the best actor in the film. But Ashley Judd is perfectly acceptable as the main lead.
But it is not the acting that takes the plaudits in this film.......
it is the plot. It's the sort of story where it could easily have been ruined as a film, but this was made very well indeed.
I read some reviews ( not just about this film, but many about others too) which use the pompous word 'predictable' to describe a film. Yeah ? Well, all John Wayne movies are going to end with JW beating the bad guys, all Cary Grant or Hugh Grant romantic comedies are going to see our hero get the girl, all political thrillers are going to have the wicked CIA traitor, mole or villain........etc etc etc.
So why do some reviewers think they are members of MENSA because they use the word 'predictable'?----actually, I'm pretty sure that many of them just use the word because it's 'fashionable' to sound a bit of a know-all when in fact they had no idea what was going to happen at the end of the film .......
But I digress. This is a fast-moving , exciting film, with twists and turns.........while we wait for Tommy Lee to realise what all the rest of us know from the outset ( how predictable LOL).
Enjoyable and entertaining film which is well worth seeing.- Was this review helpful to you?

REALLY FIRST CLASS EXCITEMENT
By Burnhamite (379 reviews) from BURNHAM , 31 Mar 2012Certainly one of the best movies to come out of America during the last decade. Like all good films, it starts quite slow and gradually builds as the plot thickens, with Tommy Lee Jones and Ashley Judd combining excellently to a superb climax. DON'T MISS IT !- Was this review helpful to you?
