Diana Ross Fan? Then this is your film.
A very emotional but beautiful film with some of Diana's (as always) fantastic songs from her Album in 1999. Also Brandy both great performers. A hit with me.- Was this review helpful to you?

Oh Dear Diana...
By Steve Weaver from Birmingham, England. , 22 Feb 2007I expected more (something as good as Lady Sings The Blues) but it's just La Ross doing what she does best - tossing back her wig in a glittery frock and singing. I used to love Diana's early stuff but this whole thing is just TIRED! Don't expect to hear any of her hits here - there aren't any.- Was this review helpful to you?

Not so much platinum, more like corn
By RJNeb2 (922 reviews) from London , 01 Oct 2005That hoary old chestnut of the woman giving up her baby for her own good (the woman's in this case, not the baby's) gets trundled out again in laborious fashion, with Ross leaving daughter Brandy at home while she goes off to become a superstar diva. Understandably the kid is none too pleased when she decides to come back into her life. Ross spends so much time swanning around preening herself, she forgets to give a performance. At least Brandy is able to make some kind of impact in this cornball story, thanks to her natural screen presence.- Was this review helpful to you?

Good Movie!
By mehdiKhan from LONDON , 28 Jan 2005After her husband refuses to support her career, aspiring singer Olivia King chooses to leave her husband and young daughter and strike out on her own. Olivia becomes a huge success, but is still wracked with guilt for leaving her child. Years later, she comes to town and learns that her daughter (who is unaware of her true identity) has entered a radio contest for the chance to meet her. Hoping to spend some time together, Olivia rigs the contest so that Kayla will win. The two get along wonderfully and become friends, until Kayla learns the truth. Olivia tries to use their love of music to repair their relationship and help launch her daughter's own singing career.- Was this review helpful to you?

Predictable but entertaining TV movie
By kev4ever from Nottingham , 12 Dec 2004The restraints of making a film expressly for TV are all too evident in DOUBLE PLATINUM, a glossy tale of a successful singer (ROSS) getting to know the daughter she abandoned 18 years earlier (BRANDY).
The star presence of both ladies (together with numerous musical numbers) lifts the movie above many others of its kind. Although it is unlikely to find an audience away from the stars' fanabses, DOUBLE PLATINUM is an entertaining tale of mother/daughter bonding.- Was this review helpful to you?
