..but as near perfect a set of performances as we could hope for. A gripping drama which prompts lots of questions afterwards and allows scope for alternative explanations, Doubt after all being the name of the movie. For me the screenplay didn't always seem true, but the cast made that all but irrelevant and for fans of Meryl Streep (who isn't?) you won't be disappointed. Brad (sorry, Philip, but for me you will always be Lebowski's butler) was also outstanding, but perhaps the best performance of all was the utterly convincing Amy Adams.
As a rule of thumb, great stage plays seldom convert well to the silver screen.
This is an EXCEPTION and with suberb direction and a wonderful cast this movie deserves to be classed in the top 100 of all time. One could watch it several times over and come to different conclusions as to a guilty ot not guilty verdict. DOUBT is such a welcome change to the absolute drivel viewers have been subjected to in recent years.

Meryl Streep has already been tipped to pick up the Best Actress Academy Award in 2010 - because Oscars bosses are unimpressed with other female roles in recent movies.
