Pretty Good
By Christopher Powell from Stafford , 23 May 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Down To You is another in the long line of romantic comedies that follows the ?Boy meets girl, something goes wrong, etc? that has been done a thousand times. So why am I recommending this? Because it?s a genuinely engaging film that is just that little bit better than most of the genre.
I took a chance on this movie because I am a big fan of Julia Stiles, but if, like me ? you would rather have a root canal than watch Freddie Prinze Jr - then prepare to be (slightly) amazed.
Playing Al, a college student who wants to be a chef like his tv chef dad (Henry Winkler), Prinze meets fellow student Imogen (Stiles) in a bar. They hit it off straight away and form a picture perfect couple. Much like real life, the honeymoon period fades and we see the relationship gradually deteriorate. Both the ascent of the relationship and the decline are handled deftly without resort to over the top scenarios or histrionics. You will feel for both parties without taking sides and hope for an eventual reunion, which may or may not come ? I shan?t spoil it for you!
Its more ?Rom? than ?Com? as the supporting cast who are there for purely laughs generally fall flat (although a walk-on by Aston Kutcher is surprisingly good). Down To You more than compensates with the ?Rom?. The strength of the film lies in the two leads who play off each other incredibly well giving a good portrayal of a young couple in a relationship without ever getting overly mushy or schmaltzy.
It may be fairly formulaic and hold no surprises but is enjoyable and worth 90 mins of your life if you are in a romantic mood.- Was this review helpful to you?

A nice film!
By Camron_Killa_Cam (9 reviews) , 14 Apr 2013Nice film :) maybe the characters were a little one dimensional. But love the 90's vibe! & where did Julia Stiles go?- Was this review helpful to you?

Painfully dull
By a customer , 24 Jan 2013Such an awful film! Incredibly predictable and just really really lame. No where near as good as other similar films (She's All That, Save the Last Dance etc). Tries to be funny but just falls flat. Boring storyline, far from brilliant acting, and generally just dull and lifeless. Honestly, don't waste your time with it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Ooh cringe... And not in a good way.
By a customer , 23 Dec 2012Bad acting, not much of a storyline, looks outdated... It's trying to be different from all the other million rom-coms but unfortunately it hasn't worked. I felt awkward watching it.- Was this review helpful to you?
