It's not the insanity or the blind hatred of this man that facinates most, it's his ocassional moments of compassion and humanity which we are really interested in. Granted they are few and far between.

This film could so easily have portrayed a phycopathic Hittler, goading us to hate him. However, Ganz's portrayal of Hittler is deeper than that, creating many levels to this most enigmatic character from history.

Daring stuff, but the gamble more than payed off. Interesting for film and history buffs a like.
