    [Highly rated reviewer]

Ok being a Dragonball fan myself I've been waiting for a live action movie for years, and now that it's finally here I wish they didn't bother, there are so many plot holes(the film is 70 minutes so it doesn't cover them or explain anything) has missing vital characters, the CGI energy attacks look more like a Gas rather than a solid (which they should be) the acting is below average all you have to do is watch the trailer to see this (See when Goku says 'Cool') the characters have no development through the entire film and are unbelievable, there are only 2 or 3 second moments that you could see in Dragonball but the rest of this film feels nothing like it.

Theres no reason HollyWood can make a sequel as this is so bad so will the rest. T'would have been better if it was just an animated movie, like the Anime.

not as good as the animia lacks the action or fight scenes. Needed a second film to finish the story as it seems to just stop without an actual ending.

I spent £1 to rent this from my library and I kinda want my money back. I love fun movies and I'm not really a tough critic at all, but this was all just a bit too naff for me. I was kind of having a devil/angel moment. Half of me was saying 'give it a chance, it's not that bad', while 'the other was like 'are you kidding me?? have you totally lost your mind? this sucks dude'. Why do so many movies insist on using wire-fu? If you can't do it really really well (like the Matrix), please just don't, it looks plain stupid. Having never seen the cartoon I can't compare to that, but I'm betting just like the Avatar: Last Airbender cartoon, it's much better than the movie conversion. If you want a fantastic action adventure movie with martial arts fun, then check out Jackie Chan's movie 'Around The World In 80 Days'. Or alternatively, if you wanna see how this movie could have been done, check out 'The Forbidden Kingdom', another of Jackie Chan's movies. Same sort of basic idea as this Dragonball movie, except done well (still not perfect, mind, but a great movie nonetheless).

Shame that I can't give this film a zero on the rating. It doesn't even deserve the half star.

The acting is... well, the word pitiful is an overstatement. Not to mention the story. Roshi's house was meant to be on an island in the ocean, not on an island in a crater in a city.

The only thing in this film that I liked was the capsule vehicles.

I watched the Dragon ball series as I was growing up and was very disappointed in this film, either the writers of the film had no idea about dragon ball or they thought people wouldn't care if they change little things here and there.

I was quite confused when a kamehameha brought goku back to good health, maybe its something I missed in the animated series but I'm sure it would of blasted a hole through his stomach.

The film was terrible, reminded me of classic power rangers, which yes was good when you're a kid but god its awful now.

Probably good to children but I wish it aimed its target audience at an older age, its an old cartoon and its main fan base has grown up but saying that, the cartoon is still popular to children today.

Cheesey acting, Bad actors, ruined the story.

  • If you watched the cartoon this movie will annoy you!

So many things in this film that aren't true to the storyline of Dragonball and Dragonball Z. To start with Goku was world famous when he was a kid in the cartoon after fighting in the world martial arts tournament and saving the world from Picollo, but in the film he is some unknown teenager who some bullies have the nerve to pick on... Also the ape form which Goku turns into is and was not ever Picollos minion and since Goku had his tail cut off as a boy he shouldn't be able to transform anyway!! There are many other points that this movie completely missed! Where's Krillin and Kame for one?!?!! But all that aside if you think of this movie as something completely separate from the cartoon and ignore the bad graphics and animation its actually ok, but still doeans't desrve anything more than 3/5 stars as the other 4000 reviews show.
