What can I say about this martial arts masterclass? This film has just been released on DVD for the first time and it has been long overdue.
Directed by Sammo Hung, this turned out to be the last collaboration to date of the three Opera School Brothers, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao.
Playing against type, Jackie is a womanising lawyer with little morals at the start of the film, but he sees the error of his ways and changes (for a woman). Sammo is a con-man hired to help Jackie, while Yuen Biao plays Jackie's friend, who has obviously cracked up under the stresses of his job.
The three way fight between our three stars is funny, but the all out fight at the climax is something else. Benny "The Jet" Urquidez provides the main villainous fists'n'feet at the end. His fight with Jackie in this film is even better that the one filmed for Wheels On Meals a few years earlier. Breathtaking.
The best of the best. I have already bought a copy of this. If you only rent one Kung Fu flick this year, make it this one. You will not regret it.
