  • A sick film for sick people

    Rated - 0.5 stars

It is a sick film done by sick director for sick people. I can't imagine anyone normal would fancy this film. Why this film is ditributed at all and not forbidden?

I've made a mistake and did not check film desrciption in advance; on the other hand the film was not marked as extreme violent. Killing is never funny so I am not going to treat this film as a grotesque. It is just a sick film, dot. If you have seen Kill Bill, you can have an idea what sort of film it is.

  • Unorthodox Hong Kong House Hunting

    Rated - 2.5 stars
By Jennish (335 reviews) from Rye , 06 Oct 2011
The gore of Dream Home is a mix of the comically inventive and few moments of the genuinely sickening. The main trouble is that the blurb tells you what the film relies on you not knowing, the motive for the carnage. The flashback sequences, which after the first few aren't clearly signposted, break up the gore, add little to the satirical bite, and make a short film feel longer than it is. Instead of a rollercoaster abbatoir of Asian splatter the film's fractured narrative prevents it from building any momentum. There's a good slasher struggling to get out from under a script which would have worked so much better if it had followed a chronological progression.

Young woman works in a bank and wants to buy new flat with little hope of success. She is literally prepared to kill for it though. Explicit and gory scenes of present are combined with flashbacks going back from 2007 to her childhood in 1980s. It utilizes some classic scenes such as seen in Catch 22 or Videodrome as well as elements of recent Asian horror films.
