Early work by French master

This early offering by the legendary French director, Marcel Carné, is an amoral, chaotic farce set in Edwardian (?) London. For me, its most interesting aspects were some set-ups & scenes which looked forward to his later masterpieces, Hotel du Nord & Les Enfants du Paradis; but it's also worth viewing on its own merits, as long as you make due allowance for its age.- Was this review helpful to you?
