This lame comedy starts out in a promising fashion by having Bette Midler killed during the opening credits. Alas, it then quickly goes downhill. Police chief Danny DeVito is dealing with a much bigger mystery than discovering who offed Midler, the most hated resident of Verplanck, NY: he has to find someone who didn't want her dead. Nick Gomez's movie wants to be a quirky black farce, but ends up more like an episode of White Trash Family Feud. You want to be amused by these characters, but they're just too stupid to be funny.

    Great laugh!!!

If you loved Serial Mom, you will love this. Great black comedy, great one liners, superb characters that are a cross between a John Walters movie and Woody Allen's creativity. Bette Midler plays a battleaxe that dies in the first scene, but as all the characters in the town have had run-ins with her - they are all suspects for her murder! Great plot, rather silly, but great laugh. I definitely recommend and really lifted my spirits.
