Filmed in a mere 16 days, mainly on the scenic Highway 14 north of Los Angeles, this celebrated TV movie was the making of 23-year-old Steven Spielberg's career. It's both of these and more as Dennis Weaver leaves his pleasant house on a routine business trip, but then gets chased by a rusting, smoke-belching oil tanker that taunts him and tries to run him off the road.

Spielbergs first film is something different and really exciting.
It follows a salesman who ends up in a road rage incident with the driver of a huge truck. He thinks nothing of it but the rest of the film follows him being chased by the truck driver who now wants to kill him!
There is very little dialogue (the man is travelling alone so has nobody to talk to) and you never see the truck driver. Its really scary as you can see the man thinking 'why is he doing this to me' and you spend most of the film thinking the same. The truck driver must be a real nutter, but as you never see him it really adds to the tension and suspense.
If you fancy something a bit different then give it a go. Its a bit like Jaws in that what you dont see is more scary than what you do. Excellent.
