    Simply awful.

Whatever you think of the TV series and the subsequent Hollywood remake a couple of years ago, 'Dukes of Hazzard - The Beginning' has straight to video written all over it. It is a wonder that this even got made; the budget cleary didn't stretch to employing any 'stars' save for the consistently offensive Willy Nelson, woefully miscast again as a foul mouthed b@stardisation of Uncle Jesse. Denver Pyle must be spinning in his grave. As a fan of the original series it would be impossible to list the sheer number of point missing inclusions and criminal oversights, so I suggest if you have a fondness for the classics, you should steer clear. If you enjoyed the previous Hollywood installment, it may be slightly more up your street. Bear in mind however that it doesn't have any association whatsoever with that movie. In fact there are some downright bizarre contradictions in terms of characterisation that make you wonder if the team behind this film even saw the last interpretation, let alone the TV show. To summarise, this is one of the most tacky, tastless, gratuitous and frankly unwatchable DVDs I have ever put in my player. Avoid at all costs.

    Worst film ever.

I think Jon from England got the review right. As a fan of the original, I had to watch this, even though I knew it would never match up to the series. It is truly awful. I’m not a prude, but the constant sexual innuendo is offensive, and the naked females are just, quite frankly, completely unnecessary. Everyone is abysmally miscast, and I cringed all the way through. I can’t believe I’ll never get that hour and a half of my life back again. I weep for the real Dukes of Hazzard.

    Dire

A lot of people hated the first movie in 2005 starring Johnny Knoxville but at least in that film they got it half right; the car stunts were spot on.

Sadly this straight to DVD 'prequel' is everything people feared the first movie might be. They were wrong then, but they're right now. This is the worst hollow cash-in, moron-audience targeting pile of steaming horse puckey you've ever seen. Bo and Luke seem to have a combined IQ of 25 and yelling yee-ha at naked women (yes, naked; funny I don't remember seeing that on the TV show, or the movie for that matter) and played by nobody actors who should be thoroughly ashamed for the rest of their lives. Daisy Duke as a nerd? Are you kidding me?

The plot is made up of Bo and Luke driving like frat party drunkards and inadvertantly crashing in on women in the shower/sunbathing topless etc. If they didn't eventually get the general lee you'd wander how ANY of this crap had ANYTHING to do with The Dukes of Hazzard. The only jump they do is a bad CGI jump over a tiny gorge. This in itself is inexcusable.

I don't mind remakes. I like to think I have an open mind. I even liked the first film (when they were in the car at least), but this is pure drivel from the deepest depths of hell. If you know anyone who remotely likes this 'film' get away from them as soon as possible.

    Completely rubbish.

Need I say more?. The only plus point this film had, were the bevy of beauties (particularly during the shower scene!).
